Cedars

María Medem

Cedars unfolds a series of spread pages each containing a dense and unique universe, making it a rich and contemplative object. In this publication, the colorful illustrations of María Medem accompany the poems of Todd Fleming Davis in english, and Youmna Saba in arabic.

Each spread contains its own temporality through narrative micro-sequences which are quite specific to the artist’s work. The simplicity of the book’s production, with a stapled binding and a soft film-coated cover creates a humble object leaving all space for the content.

Cedars is co-published with Stuart Hyatt and its launch will coincide with his record “Field Work Series” from Temporary Residence Ltd. in the United States. Made possible through partial funding of the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ “DeHaan Artist of Distinction” award.
