Calentura is an imaginary country where poetic laws replace physics. The narrator journeys through its regions, recording in fragments its phenomena, encounters, and customs: a mythological travelogue that is as much a contemporary parable as a work of imagined ethnography.
Across these pages, Zéphir composes a metaphorical geography of our inner and social lives: cities bending under the weight of opinions, emotions rushing down slopes, words in search of a voice… While the book borrows certain codes from science fiction, it belongs more to a solarpunk / climate-fiction sensibility, one oriented toward the living world and set against the grain of dystopia.
Visually, the pages are drawn in pencil on tracing paper, then enhanced and colorized, before undergoing a photogravure process conceived for printing in four spot colors — a chromatic choice that supports both the book’s subject matter and Fidèle’s editorial line. The narrative is punctuated by three sequences of paintings reproduced on glossy paper, opening up moments of pause while deepening the exploration of this inner territory, as well as the boundaries of the comics form itself.
