L'inédite 02 - Le jeu de l'oie (Fien Jorissen)
Fien Jorissen
Poster from the L’Inédite series, a collection inviting different artists to create a personal image, drawing on their current practice, ongoing processes, or simply their present work.
Le jeu de l'oie by Fien Jorissen is a metaphor for the creative process: rolling the dice, moving forward, taking risks, landing on the wrong square, and starting all over again. An experience that is both thrilling and daunting, leading up to square number 63.
Like a game governed by its own rules, Fien creates a grid in which she develops an illustration divided into multiple squares, based on formal constraints and stylistic exercises. Not only as a way of playing, but also as a means of exploring different approaches to overcome obstacles and to structure meaning. Her aim is to create a timeless image and to highlight the idea that the goose, as the protagonist of one of the most well-known board games, reveals a form of beauty in simplicity—much like the gestures of our everyday lives.
