This collage is part of the ‘Fins de journées’ family, a term attributed to paperweight balls made from the leftovers, the scraps of glass from a day’s work by glass artisans. It’s in this same frame of mind, after a day of cutting, that I’m going to try to give a second life to the scraps of his tinted paper collages. This multitude of paper scraps, new shapes and counter-forms, carefully preserved, is the origin of new compositions. Like a jigsaw puzzle, each piece of paper finds its place in a playful interplay of form, balance and color.
